The Airline

When air2000 was launched on 11 April 1987 they had one aim: to build a leisure airline that combined exceptional value for money with new levels of customer service.

Since then, by listening to their customers and regularly introducing innovative practices ahead of competitors, air2000 have grown to become the UK's leading leisure airline. air2000 won the coveted Golden Globe award for 'Best UK Charter Airline' eight times.

Even in early days, the quality was recognised when air2000 were ranked fourth in a survey on leisure airlines by Holiday Which, the only UK carrier to appear in the top five.

air2000 were the first charter airline to introduce hot meals on all flights as well as providing in-flight entertainment and newspapers.

In 1992 we successfully applied to the CAA for a licence to operate scheduled flights. Then, following a change of senior management in 1995, we were rebranded as First Choice Holidays plc. Two thirds of passengers now come from the First Choice Holidays Group, with more than 120 tour operators and groups making up the balance.

Currently air2000 make up to 34 Scheduled Service flight per week -The fleet has expanded to 30 aircraft: 3 767s, 15 757s, 6 A321s and 6 A320s. Each year air2000 make over 30,000 flights from fifteen regional airports in the UK and Ireland, carrying over 7 million passengers to more than 50 destinations worldwide.
